Photography is a way of personalizing the world in which we live and giving it a perspective with which we can identify. I guess the same is true of the people that we photograph. 

Among other subjects, a favourite theme of mine which is posted here on PN is "the girl next door".

I have often asked young ladies to pose for me after a brief encounter, sometimes in a café or elsewhere, other times after meeting them more formally through friends. More recently, I have photographed some models starting out in their career, helping them to build up their book. I have also met more established professionals, however they contribute to little of my portfolio.

After  more than a decade spent in teaching and monitoring the research of university post graduates and post docs, I do not feel the urge to intellectualize my work, I leave that to those better able to do that.  I am a glamour photographer  - no more no less  -   it is a source of relaxation, and It is also great fun. Let me add that my wife and I also meet some wonderful young people in the process!

The other hobbies which take up my time are quantum mechanics and astrophysics. 

John Peri is an alias which has served me well over the years, allowing me to publish my photos in various books and magazines, while still communicating on more serious matters in peer reviewed medical and scientific journals.
