  1. Thank you Rick. In addition to the quality, I really enjoy the methodical and even therapeutic pace of making one sheet of film at a time.
  2. It was a sunny but windy afternoon at the Coyote Point marina along the San Francisco Bay. My focusing dark cloth almost got blown over into the marsh. Camera was a Chamonix F1 4x5 field camera with Schneider Symmar 135mm f/5.6 convertible, film was Ilford HP5+, with an orange filter. Adox FX-39 II 1+9. Driftwood and marsh flower Rusted pipes and rocks Abandoned wagon
  3. I recently bought a Nikon 28 f2 non-AI in mint condition, and it took $35 (plus two-way shipping) for the Ai conversion. Since I guess Chuck you are in Europe, then there might be other choices locally. For higher value lenses, it is well worth it. The 28mm in the photo seems to be the f3.5 version, which I do not have experience.
  4. Hi @chuck_foreman1, I kinda like the light leak from the Tourist II. It looks almost like an omen from above. And I reckon you enjoy the Anaston f4.5 lens on the Tourist II? It is a very good one.
  5. These are all Diptych from a Fujica Half with Fujinon 28/2.8 lens, manual exposure (meter is dead), Ilford Pan F+, Adox FX-39 II 1+9. Giant wheel of bricks Finite and infinite
  6. From my mini-test of four mini amigos: half frame cameras! These are all Diptych from an Olympus EE-S with D.Zuiko 30/2.8 lens, manual exposure (meter is dead), Ilford Pan F+, Adox FX-39 II 1+9. Heart of a fountain Darker and lighter side of heart Festive lights
  7. A recent trip to Denver Colorado, the mile high city. The light is intense due to the high altitude, and colors are very vibrant too. I used a travel friendly Lomo LC-A compact camera, Fujicolor C200 (Japan) film, Bellini C41 home processed. I suspect my LC-A is under-exposing a bit, which accentuate the color and contrast a bit more. The corner Union Station Reflections Modern street mural Red brick wall
  8. Mini-test of 4 half frame cameras: Fujica Half, Ricoh Auto Half, Canon Dial 35, Olympus Pen EE-S.
  9. I thought I know most Nikon cameras, but apparently not the Nikkormat ELW. Thanks @rick_drawbridge for the write-up of an interesting camera that represents the transition from all mechanical to hybrid electro-mechanical. And thanks Jeff for the informative history about Albinar. I only encountered a few Albinar add-on lenses: wide angle and telephoto that can "convert" a normal lens. The image quality out of Rick's Albinar lenses is just excellent, and compare favorably against any manufacturer's branded lenses.
  10. Harman Phoenix 200 is entirely new film emulsion, that Harman newly developed and manufactured in their UK factory. They made a big fuss about it a few months back, with insider story type of videos. This is from the first test run, so in theory they could further improve it. Developing C41 at home, costs slightly less than labs for 35mm and 120 roll films. Bellini C41 kit is about $55 (including shipping) per 16 rolls. So far the results have been quite consistently good for me, on par with commercial labs. And I can make sure there is no dust or scratches. In addition, the only economic ways to do C41 and E6 for large format (4x5) is home processing. Thus I have quality, versality and convenience at reasonable costs. C41 is simpler than E6 and not fussy, the only critical part is the temperature and time for color developer.

  12. I recently bought a roll of Harman Phoenix 200, the newest color negative film, to try out. Also it was my third attempt to gel with Rollei 35 TE (I still prefer other compact 35mm cameras due to ergonomics, but the quality is definitely there). Bellini C41 home developed and scanned on Nikon Coolscan V. First the contact sheet: you can see it is not your garden variety color negative film. The base has a strong purple tint, and the images are very contrasty.
  13. I'm expecting a few cute half-frame cameras (Fujica Half, Olympus Pen EE-S, Minolta Repo) to arrive, and then do a mini group test with my two existing ones (Ricoh Auto Half, Canon Dial 35). Bulk loaded a few short rolls of Ilford Pan F+ 50 for the occasion.
  14. Between two long trips and one bad flu, I have accumulated 7 rolls but no time to develop or scan yet. Hopefully something during the weekend.
  15. Hi Gary @gary green, nice sharp image from the prewar uncoated Tessar 80/2.8. It is well worth your restoration effort. One idea is to drill a hole in the middle of the back and through the pressure plate, where 6x6 frame numbers will show. Add a piece of red plastic and webcam security shutter, and it should give you a working albeit butchered solution.
