  1. The 400mm/f2.8 TC in the Z mount is available new at B&H for $13996.95. It is also available as an open box item, but at no savings, i.e. also $13996.95. Nikon USA has it in stock for $13999.95.
  2. Note: Consider keeping uploads no larger than 1600 pixels on the long side when it matters, and sticking with 1000 pixels when the image feels no pain at that resolution. On data size/compression, try to keep things under 1mb, shooting for 600kb when you can stop there. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site (at Flickr, Photobucket, your own site, etc.). New to this thread? The general guidelines for these Wednesday threads are right here: https://www.photo.net/forums/topic/398109-guidelines-for-nikon-forum-wednesday-image-threads. For now, we're sticking with 1, 2, or 3 images per week as you see fit.
  3. The Nikon Z 400mm/f2.8 TC is currently in stock at B&H: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1669888-REG/nikon_nikkor_z_400mm_f_2_8.html So is the 600mm/f4 TC. It took each one of them for well over a year, but they eventually became in stock.
  4. They also have the refurb D6 for $3600, if one wants a DSLR. While supply lasts, this refurb sale lasts for 4 days, through Monday, March 25, 2024. It should end at midnight eastern time.
  5. There are the 85mm/f1.2 and 135mm/f1.8 Plena to choose from, if you have too much money around. I simply don't capture nearly enough portrait to justify either lens.

  7. Neither did I. In summary, these are the steps: If you have no lens for FTZ adapter attached, the camera will initially show updating camera (C) firmware from 4.10 (or earlier) to 5.00. No GNSS (GPS G) firmware is displayed. After C is 5.00, it will also show the GNSS (GPS G) firmware at 0.07. And then it update G from 0.07 to 0.17, while C stays at 5.00. At the end C will be 5.00 and G 0.17 As Joe Smith mentioned, each one of steps 1 and step 3 takes about 6+ minutes.
  8. I downloaded the new firmware from a Windows machine, and the downloaded file is a binary .bin file, not the previous .exe wrapper. Therefore, you just place the .bin file on the root (upper most) folder on the CFexpess card. Nikon has been using that new process the last couple of times. And I also did the upgrade twice, the second time to upgrade the GNSS (GPS) firmware version from 0.07 to 0.17.
  9. There is one more session scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 6pm EDT, which is GMT -4, hosted by Robert's Camera in Indianapolis. These sessions are never recorded. https://classes.robertscamera.com/event/the-z8-z9-set-up-to-step-up-buttons-dials-menus-and-settings/?fbclid=IwAR3VbHQATAld01l5TLpugwXFZfCT_EV3Lbvngboq9yG5ZT08ELU1vgJBXQg
